Meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month between September and June,  and we usually start at 7.45 for 8pm. See change of venue for Thursday 25th April.

New Members, please note that during the year there are opportunities to engage in group film making and join in many activities which take place outside of the formal meeting times.  Have a look at the “Happenings” page on this website for details of some recent activities.

September 13

Showing of latest films, introduction to the season and meeting new members?

September 27

Guest Speaker – Fabio Bezoari, Award winning amateur documentary maker. An evening of Fabio’s documentaries with audience discussion/feedback.

October 11

Hol-i-day Challenge
The challenge is to make an entertaining film about ONE DAY on holiday.
Followed by small group discussion if there’s time.

October 25

Guest Speaker - Benjamin Field - writer, self shooter and multi-camera studio director. Work shown on BBC, Channel 4 and Amazon Prime. Prize winner at London Independent Film Awards last year. Highlighted as ‘Director to Watch’ for 2018 by “The Agency”.

November 8

Chocolate Soldier – inter-club competition judged by the audience.

The challenge is to make a film about “Cleaning”.
Followed by small group discussion if there’s time.

Debbie Daniels on film genre
Discussion about an Oscar winning film which members have been asked to watch in advance.

Practical Evening

In groups we make an advert in an evening.  Each group will be given a surprise object to advertise.

April 11

Midland Movie Makers League at Sutton Coldfield Movie Makers – SCMM members judge films from the 5 other MMM clubs.
Doug Hemmings & Gordon Hunt on how free music and sound effects can change the mood of a sequence.

April 25

Sutton Coldfield Movie Makers entertains BIAFF with a film show at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1 Brunswick Square, Birmingham B1 2HW.

NB start time 8.30pm 

May 9

Five Minute Movie Challenge
The challenge is to make either...
A film with a flashback in it, or
A film with a wheelbarrow in it.
Showing of the films made at the Practical Session.
Followed by small group discussion.

Show adverts and films after the tea break.

Visitors and new members always welcome.  Why not come along to the next meeting and check us out.   Your first visit is free.   The annual membership fee is just £37. 

We meet at Wylde Green Community Hall, Emscote Drive off Little Green Lanes, Wylde Green, Sutton Coldfield B73 5NE at 7.45pm for an 8.00pm start.
